Great day yesterday, but that is all a bit cuntish by Mickleson. Dont think someone like Tom Watson deserved that regardless of the result.

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
One day for sure Mickleson will have the chance to put his money where his mouth is. When his team lose he will say despite excellent preparation the best team won.

I'm going to have to get me a short game coach, I've totally overlooked that so far.

A whole continent VS one country.

There should only ever be one winner.

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
Same swing coach, same short game coach...

To be fair, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they were better friends with the Europeans, some of the American team are MAMMOTH fists.

Comma... NBC coverage I was watching said they share a lot of the coaches... Rose and Hunter apparently do ?

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
The impression I got was that some of the USA team have better friendships with some of the European team than they do with their fellow Americans.

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
The thing I never get about the aargument, Sold0, is that the Yanks are typically really overtly patriotic. As soon as they hear the National Anthem they get all watery eyed, so you'd think that the one time they get to represent their country it would bring the best out of them.

Listening to Darren CLARKE the other day I thought was more interesting. How on the European tour they all travel together. There's one or two flights out of Heathrow for every event, so they all know each other from a young age, so when they talk about playing for each other they genuinely mean it. Whereas every member of the Yank team has their own private JET, and travels to each event on their own.

Thought Mickelson was a bit of a cunt in his interview actually

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
Irespective of how the two teams prepared the body of opinion was that we would win. And Europe won the singles match ups 6.5 to 5.5.

Mickleson [ who does not have a Ryder cup record to match his illustrious career ] gave an answer that did not take into account that the better team won. In addition despite what he said I think he was holding himself back.

Be very interesting when he becomes Ryder Cup captain.

Agreed P son....think its 100% true with him.

Their young BUCKS seem to get it - so should be much better over the next few years.

Having seen the way the yanks were in Medinah, I can't believe they don't want to win as much as us. I think they are just saying that as they keep getting beaten.

'Actually, I think its one of the lazy Yank arguments every time they get their pants pulled down.'

Agreed, Stewie son. Although I was wondering whether it was a veiled dig at the Tiger Woods legacy.

No, Sold0

But given the amount of prize money they play for every week, one week off getting paid really shouldn't have anything to do with it

Do they get paid to play in the t'ment Stew0?

stewie griffin 11:52 Mon Sep 29
Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
Don't think the Europeans would rather win a Major, Sold0, but they probably have the Ryder Cup as equal importance.

Actually, I think its one of the lazy Yank arguments every time they get their pants pulled down. It matters - see Keegan Bradley CRYING two years ago, and Patrick REED yesterday - they just haven't been good enough.

stewie griffin 11:50 Mon Sep 29
Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
To be fair to PHIL, he was asked a direct question about why the Yanks keep losing, and why they don't play their best golf at the Ryder Cup.

He talked about a system they used the last time they won, and have used at the Presidents Cup.

Not exactly diplomatic, and I don't doubt he was pissed off with Watson, but I'm not sure it was as bad as is being made out
